anthrobagI’ve been reading about these East Coast and West Coast tote bag from Target all over the place. Super cute practical…and familiar…

Oh, now I remember! Amy and I were completely enamored with these lovely map bags that we spotted at the Anthropologie opening we went to last April. But for shame! With the Anthropologie mark-up, the bags were pretty costly. Then I spotted them at Plastica for about $10 cheaper and the hunt was on! Some internet research let me to the bag’s Brooklyn-based makers MapTote.

Created by a fashion stylist and cartographer, these totes are silkscreened with kitschy illustrated maps of Los Angeles (and some other cities). Simple, cute and useful – loves it!! Their LA bag has all the essential boroughs of our beautiful city and also includes famous landmarks. And sunshine!

They come in black or white, in organic cotton, and in different sizes for the beach, grocery store, or if you prefer hobo style. Have any friends from out of town? What a great gift!

Get them online here or from Plastica, 8405 W. Third Street (Los Angeles).
