Clinique to save your skin this summer

Submitted by LAPretty on May 17, 2009 – 3:45 pmNo Comment

solarsmartWorried about rays this coming summer? One of my fave companies, Clinique, has got you covered. I wouldn’t expect otherwise from them – after all, their products are all 100% fragrance free, allergy tested, and made by super smarty pants dermatologists who know the best way to prevent age signs is by protecting your beautiful skin from the sun. Let’s get started with their new SolarSmart Collection that has everything I need for my forthcoming trip to Hawaii (it’s good I have all this stuff as I’ve heard rumors that sunscreen in Hawaii can be crazily expensive, so I’m starting to stockpile sunscreen.  Have any of you found this to be true??). What makes SolarSmart so special is that it’s formulated to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. While UVA rays age the skin, UVB rays burn it. Being that I want neither of these things to happen to my skin, I’m loving the fact that I can get protection from both with these products. And The Skin Cancer Foundation agrees as they give Clinique’s SolarSmart Collection its seal of recommendation. And oh my does this collection come with oodles of new ways to save your skin including face and body creams in either SPF 30 or SPF 50, a oh-crap-I-really-messed-up-today After Sun Rescule Balm with Aloe, and (my personal saviour) SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick. The stick is made for delicate and often neglected places where I easily burn like my ears, under my eyes, and on my lips. Its smaller size is also super convenient to carry around in my purse; plus you can take in on a plane with you without those mean TSA dudes giving you the side-eye.

selfsuncollectionBut Clinique knows we ladies love to brown (because let’s be honest, tan skin looks wayyy better in a bikini) so they also have come out with a new Self Sun Collection. The safest tan comes from a bottle, and I’d take that any day over what happend to Kim Kardashian. I generally prefer tanning lotions to spray tans, though I have friends to swear by a good spray. Luckily Clinique offers both options in their Self Sun Collection including a Body Airbrush Spray and two different shades of Face Tinted Lotion and Body Tinted Lotion. And if you’re looking for a way to get a natural glow without a full-fledged tanning lotion, I highly reccommend their Body Daily Moisturizer. It not only gives you nice, soft skin, it also very slowly and gradually gives you a little sun-kissed color. It takes a little longer and is much more subtle, but it’s also more forgiving than regular tanning lotion and spray tans. With the Self Sun Collection, your (safe) tan will look so good, your mom will probably lecture you about the importance of sunscreen the next time she sees you!

Both collections are brand new and available at your Clinique counter or online at Cliniqe.com. I’m also digging their SolarSmart special: get two SolarSmart products and get a super cute beach tote and free shipping. BTW, the Friday before Memorial Day (May 22) is The Skin Care Foundation’s Don’t Fry Day, so I highly recommend you get yourself some SolarSmart for the big weekend!
