Fitness Trend Alert: Pineapple and Bio-Oscillation

If there’s any city that’s anxious to try out the latest thing in fitness, it’s LA. So it was no surprise that a demonstration party at Pineapple Fitness was completely packed with enthusiastic party-goers ready put down their drinks and climb on the many large exercise platforms that lined the studio’s wall. Based on the principle of something called “Bio-Oscillation,” exercises at Pineapple are all done on machines that either vibrate or wobble up and down. Doing anything on a vibrating platform, whether it be a crunch, a push-up, or holding a yoga pose, will intensify the workout so that you can accomplish more in less time.

They also say that because your body itself is made up of million of tiny cells which are all oscillating, this method of “Bio-Oscillation” communicates more effectively with these cells via your spinal column to amp up your fitness. And not only does it activate your muscle fibers, the vibration has a massaging effect that supposably rejuvenates as well. Pineapple is all about ultra high-intensity training but as there’s little to no impact on the body, there’s little chance of injury. And if you still need convincing, think about this: it was the workout that  Robert Downey Jr. did to get in shape for Iron Man. Enough said. Check out the very passionate fitness guru and Pineapple CEO Nick Morris do a demo of the Pineapple workout here.

pineapple-event-071Pineapple sent out an invite to test out their products and I just had to take a peek. It was truly fascinating, all the vibrating contraptions everywhere, but it was too crowded to give it a real test (and I just had a big dinner and wasn’t in an “oscillating” kind of mood). Two of Paris Hilton’s ex-BFFs where there: the season one winner (and so-called hungry tiger) Brittany was happy to pose with machines for photogs -including me!- while Zui stayed in the background.
