Kinara brings a little St. Tropez to WeHo

kinarafront1I look like I’ve just returned from a luxurious vacation in the South of France with the most wonderful tan ever. What’s my secret? Oh, I just spent a half hour at West Hollywood’s Kinara Spa. Kinara is one of the best spas around offering everything from facials to body treatments, massages, hair, and even medi-spa treatments. Because I’ve been noticing that my upper thighs look a bit pasty in my new short shorts, I just had to try their new Kinara Sunless Tan Treatment which promised to make me look like a bronze goddess in 20 minutes flat.

But before we get to the tanning treatment, I wanted to take a moment and rave about one of the best things at Kinara: their Vichy shower. Pictured below, their Vichy shower is held in the most gorgeous, luxurious blue-tiled room that reminded me right off of the indoor pool at Hearst Castle. I was taken to this room first to receive my body exfoliation treatment prior to application of the tan. So there I laid beneath the many shower heads getting a wonderful sugar scrub and wondering what would come next. Was I happily surprised!

vichy-shower1First a towel was put over my face so that I wouldn’t get splashed with water, which made the experience all the more fun and enjoyable because it forced me to close my eyes and relax. And then all the shower heads where turned on and it feels as if you’re floating underneath a waterfall as the wonderful Vichy shower heads work their magic. Oh, it was the best!

So after a dry off, then comes the “I hope you’re not modest part” involving getting into a shower-sized booth underneath florescent lights, being told to stand in different positions, and getting sprayed all over. (I could have worn a bikini of course, but what’s the fun in that?) Kinara searched high and low for a tanning product that had the best results while also being healthiest for the skin – their #1 priority – and St. Tropez was the winner. It’s already the dominant brand in the U.K. and has a cult following around the world, plus it’s what the contestants on Dancing with the Stars use, and you know they need have a good tan with those outfits! In only 20 minutes I was already glowing, and the next day – wow, it looked as if I lost 5 pounds overnight! I can definitly see why Kinara has so many regulars coming by for a Sunless Tan.

st-tropez-tanningI never knew what all the fuss was about when it comes to tanning, but I sure get it now! I can’t help but admire myself in front of mirrors, and I can totally see how one would become addicted to tanning. That is, SAFE tanning, like the kind they offer at Kinara. My tan should last for about a week, but I also have some St. Tropez products at home to keep me glowing. I especially love their Everyday Body and Everyday Face products (available at Kinara). Both combine serious moisturizing benefits with a healthy touch of bronze. It slowly builds a nice tan – which is great as I don’t want to screw up and make myself accidentally look like an Oompa Loompa. Plus they don’t have an overwhelming chemical scent which I’ve found from other tanning products.

This is quite a bit different than what I expected for a massage. I have been keeping an eye out for things like this. My wife wants to install this Vichy Massage Table at her salon to diversify the business. She had a massage performed with one of these tables in the Bahamas and I guess it really put an impression on her.
