Anna Sui for Target

Submitted by LAPretty on May 7, 2009 – 2:55 pmOne Comment

With Target reaching out to high fashion designers will their next collab sink or swim? McQ, Alexander McQueen for Target’s collection, had the entire fashion world in salivating. However, when the clothes hit the racks all that was left was odd shapes and sizes. The clothes had more lows than highs, lets 16615541just say we fell into the hype, but didn’t bother purchasing a single piece.

Hopefully, Target will learn from their mistakes and wont let Anna Sui’s flowery feminine look wilt away. Surprisingly, Sui mentioned to WWD that her muses for the Target collection are the high society scandalous vixens from the CW’s hit Gossip Girl. Sui’s style tends lie on the edgier side of the tracks, so will she soften up for the mainstream? We’ll have to wait and see.

Sui told WWD: “I liked the idea of creating a collection reflective of each characters’ style, sensibility and unique approach to fashion. By combining the elements of art, city, spirit, punk and glamour, we created a collection that exudes New York City fashion.”56783356

On a side note, I remember in high school I had a ton of Anna Sui eye shadows because they were way better than Mac and smelled like roses. I have high hopes for the accessories that will accompany the line. The collection is set to launch September 13 of this year. Hopefully, the clothes will be more about affordable luxury and not fall along the lines of a McQ flop. We will be keeping you updated as details arise.
