Ever wonder what happens to your cell phone after you toss it for a newer model? Or how about all those paper napkins they give you at restaurants? Or your old t-shirts? Sundance Channel’s new eight-part original series Eco Trip explores the origins of these common everyday products and follows their life cycle from production to disposal, revealing the environmental, social and health effects along the way. One of our fave companies, Kiehl’s is teaming up with The Sundance Channel to have special screenings of this series at locations all over the nation. Each screening with be followed by a Q & A with a notable local host so that you can learn how to take your Eco Trip inspiration home with you. Tomorrow’s screening at the Kiehl’s in Santa Monica will have famed eco-designer, owner of Organic Interior Design in Venice Beach, designer of the absolutely adorable staycation hideaways Venice Beach Cottages and author of écologique: the style of sustainable design Kelly LaPlante, a true expert in how to make your life more green and more chic. She only works with healthy, organic, sustainable furnishings and the results are always stunning. I can’t wait to be inspired by her forthcoming book, EcoLuxe: Sustainable Spaces of Extraordinary Individuals. 

Kiehl’s is also using this event in introduce their brilliant Recycle and Be Rewarded Program where you can return your empty Kiehl’s bottles, tubes and jars for recycling and get free product! Each time you bring in empty Kiehl’s bottles, you’re Recycle and Be Rewarded card will be stamped. After your 3rd stamp, you’ll get one of their famous, must-have lip balms. After your 5th stamp, an item from their travel collections. And after your 10th stamp, you’ll receive any single product with a value of less than $25!  Plus you’ll be happy to know that you’ll be helping out the environment, and that should be gift enough (but a free lip balm is nice too!).
