Reconnect at Vinoteque
As our long time readers know Nicole and I work together, at least we did until a few weeks ago. We are both in the process of stepping things up in our careers and Nicole accepted a new and exciting opportunity leaving me alone in our hideous office. Needless to say, I was very excited to reunite with her at the newborn Vinoteque restaurant off Melrose. The space is absolutely gorgeous, and makes for the perfect meal stop, day or night. Obviously we had a lot to chat about which we were able to do over three courses and some red vino. Vinoteque knows it’s LA customer and it shows in every detail from floor to food. Their courtyard doubles as a dinning area and garden (think dill, chives, tomatoes). Planters set along the sides make for strong growing spots while the herbs provide a fantastic zest to Vinoteque’s diverse dishes. Inside we marveled over the recycled wood floors and golden finished tables – tres chic! Best of all, guests can choose from their vast wine selection of over 250 varieties. The location and ambiance are great for those lazy “I don’t want to cook”‘ times and of course the trendy spot makes for prime people watching.
Besides the wine (which we had free flowing), the food is salacious. I love having gourmet food in a casual atmosphere. The European styled restaurant offers something for everyone. If you’d like to live vicarious though us I’ll fill you in on our delightful eats. Our starters were European sized plates of diver scallops and lamb meatballs, the entrees consisted of halibut with roasted beets and horseradish ice cream (yummy, not gross) and roasted chicken with carmalized brussel sprouts and brown butter whipped potatoes (they melt in your mouth). The dishes were incredible and you could taste the difference fresh ingredients make. To top off this extravaganza we had two items from the sweets menu, coffee and churros (sweet and petite) coupled with a mascarpone panna cotta. After our marathon chatting, drinking, and dinning session we parted ways. Although it may seem we ate a lot, which we did, we’re eager to return to try other goodies from the menu, not to mention that they have brunch! Yum! Best of all Vinoteque has high class food at working class prices. Bon Appetite!

I’ve been going to this place consistently since they opened and loved the fact that it was never too crowded and always sensational. I wish I could keep them all to myself, but they are just too good. Cool Pictures.
